Tucked away down a little Norfolk country road, is the most perfect, cosy and very welcoming little hideaway- The Spinks Nest. From closing the door into the little nest you become enveloped by such a warmth, in the most gloriously eclectic hideaway, conjuring up all the feelings of I want to stay forever with simultaneously how can I make my home just like this. A feast for the eyes and well, all the senses. I was a little like a child in a sweet shop on first arrival, what do I take in first….but the Spinks Nest was all about relaxing and relax we did, from late afternoon to the following late morning. It was as if we had been transcended to somewhere rather special, to hideaway, to escape, or perhaps we had magically flown to the top of a tree…….to disappear for the night!
After a beautifully refreshing Winter’s day, the kind of Winter’s Day you do not mind it being Winter. With blue, blue, skies, crisp air, white frosted capped leaves and sun flares flickering in the trees as you drive through the country, coastal roads. Filled with long walks on the stunning Wells-Next-To_Sea beach, with an array of beach hut to dream about owning. The most incredible and indulgent fish pie at The Dun Cow, Salthouse, and a hot chocolate at the delightful Tuscan Farm Shop in Burnham Market, so our arrival at Spinks Nest really was the cherry on top. I do think just coming out of a lockdown makes you appreciate how valuable and special little escapes to the sea and nights away are, although I would say a stay at The Spinks Nest would be truly special whatever the situation.

Two years in the making Ana has created a rustic yet luxurious hideaway, with a beautifully hi tech kitchen complete with Perrin and Rowe taps (my heart stopped) a little dining area to hunker down and enjoy a feast under low hanging lights. The whole space is a fun and very charming mix of prints and fabrics, velvets and bold colours, trinkets and finds and green plants galore, big pots, small pot, hanging pots, all the pots of variety are sprinkled all over….. An abundance of colour with array of very different collectibles all lovingly considered, chosen and brought together for their individuality but all coming together in synchrony to create the most heavenly nest. The living room area is beautifully curated, comfy old arm chairs, which we fell in as we sat back and warmed up next to the log burner. We played Scrabble and cards and maybe had a little Gin and Tonic tipple which Ana kindly left us, along with some mince pies….all deliciously idyllic….and we haven’t even discussed the bed yet!

The bedroom, is tucked away next to the living area, behind beautiful printed draped curtains, featuring the most comfortable bed I think I may have slept in. High off the ground with little steps to help you up, a 9000 spring necklace, you sink into it, helped by the surrounding of cushions and pillows and extra layers of blankets on the bed. Shelves behind with an array of books and trinkets and gorgeous Jo Malone linen spray which of course this magpie spied…it was almost a nest within a nest…..A Thumbelina moment if you will. I slept through the night for the first time in a very long while…tucked in very happy, safe and warm in my nest.
Luckily this little magpie was eased up and out of bed with endless cups of tea, and the help of the warm heated floor, along to the Japanese inspired bath, with steps leading down to the sunken tub, well, I wish every Wednesday could start that way… Although the bath and shower were of course a show stopper, I have to say I am not sure if it was the main act of the bathroom…..now I not sure I have ever highlighted a toilet before but this beautiful toilette may have been the most quirky, plush and beautiful rustic toilet I have encountered……Every single room at The Spinks Nest really has its very own pulse, and is a magical escape in its own way…beautifully true and fitting with the historical surroundings but complete with Aseop products to keep this modern magpie happy.

A perfect place to stay to explore this beautiful part of the world, with stunning beaches only 5 miles away, walks in the Marshes, historic little villages to visit and gastro pubs to relax in, it is ideal in all seasons…
But…. even with out the richness of it’s surroundings, The Spinks Nest is a thoughtfully curated, calm and welcoming space to come and unwind, indulge, dream and escape in…..perhaps the closest to flying up to the top of a tree, that us with no wings can be lucky enough to experience.
Thank you so much for having us Ana, we had the most perfect time.
You can book The Spinks Nest here.
We were lucky enough to receive a press rate for this stay but all opinions are my own.
Thank you for reading x
