Sometimes you can come across a place, a hotel, gorgeous people or a time, which is/are so unbelievably amazing, you want to hide it away, savour it, and keep it only for yourself for as long as you possibly can. However, as the Summer begins to comes to a close and I start to reflect on the last few months of my forever favourite season, I feel that the only way to accept this inevitable end is to live vicariously through my photos and tales of the most idyllic, beautiful and special place, Pino di Loto.
Pino di Loto is truly everything you would ever want from a Greek Holiday, it ticks every box and then some. A peaceful and calm oasis which sits above the stunning azure Aegean sea, looking over Kiki beach. Six beautifully designed white cubist style suites, with authentic and traditional features, with netted -draped four poster beds, and a patio over looking the most stunning and bluest pool. With a white fringed parasol and little cushioned nooks with lanterns, curated in the most beautiful shabby chic way, alongside two fun filled and friendly Greek Kitty cats, Mortis and Tulla, to show you round. All this making you want to stay forever.
Breakfasts are perfectly and thoughtfully created, fresh breads and pastries, cured local hams and cheeses, fresh fruit and more fresh fruit, any loose tea you could ever want, all to be feasted on under the beautiful blue Syros skies….
We had three glorious days and nights at Pino di Loto, creating a little pattern of late breakfasts, strolls down to the sandy beach at Kino. Literally within 10 minutes you are bathing in crystal clear, blue, warm, unbelievably refreshing waters…. a feast for the eyes, the body and the soul. Strolling onto Loto beach to continue the relaxing, reading, swimming , and sleeping, before spending the afternoon by the pool, ordering fruit smoothies and diving in and out of the glorious pool. Not wanting to miss a moment, the sand, sea and the day would be quickly showered off in order to catch the most majestic of sunsets. With a tipple of choice in hand, post beach, pre dinner, as the day begins to end, that was my most treasured time. With only six suites and only a couple of them occupied over our stay, sunset was just so peaceful and so magical. The light was almost out-worldly and it was as if it were all just for us. However many sunsets one is lucky enough to watch, that will never be enough.
We would venture back down the hill to dive into an even more idyllic Greek paradise, to eat dinner at one of the Tavernas, with tables set along the waters edge, feasting on mouth watering Greek cuisine, and all the cats visiting of course, just to complete the picture of a rather perfect day……
And if you think it could not get any better than this, the absolute most wonderful part of our stay was the warmth , spirit and kindess of Terezdina. There was nothing she would not do to make our stay as relaxing as possible, (Terezdina even kindly went out of her way to pick up our ferry tickets at the port for us) I am not sure I have ever felt so welcome and so at home anywhere before, her kindness and benevolence was unforgettable.
On our last night Terezdina took two polaroid photographs of us, one to stay at Pino and one for us to take home. For now I will keep that photograph to myself, I will hide it away and savour in the hope to keep a little part of the warmth and soul of Pino forever at home with me…..Until that is we can go back and take another…because like the sunsets one stay at Pino di Loto is never enough!
We flew our of London Luton to Mykonos with Easyjet.
Organised boats before we left with greeka.com I found this company really clear and efficient and they even text to remind of your plans or if there were any changes the day before. You can also download the tickets onto your phone rather than picking up from the port. We did a bit of both. It took about thirty minutes from Tinos to Syros
Terezdina organised a taxi to pick us up from the port which was about £15.
We booked our stay at Pino di Loto through the website here
