So the sweet days of Summer are upon us, I think we have had nearly a month of balmy, crazy and ridiculously wonderful sunshine and we are only in the first few days of July. The BBQ’s have been lit more than once (quite a lot actually) the Lido visits have commenced, sitting in the garden with a book is more the spare moment activity than watching TV (apart from Love Island obvs) Summer Dresses bought for Mexico have been worn over and over, it is still light and warm at 10pm, apricots and peaches somehow make it into every dish of the day, Wimbledon is off and running, the added excitement of the football (yes I did say that!) and most of all I’ve not trolled through the internet looking for getaway ideas for months, so for Sure Summer has arrived!
The start is always the best when things are still exciting, still in the ‘this is this really happening phase’, the honeymoon period if you will. People are perkier, life seems, although hotter, more fun and easier, and to think we’ve still the sleepy days in the deep of August to come. What I think is the best thing about Summer is that we live more for the now, we live in the today, not waiting/wishing the week/our lives away waiting for the weekend, on a hot day even a Monday is good! You notice more, the light, the sunset, the birds, the flowers, each other, obviously you may notice the scent of others too but it can’t all be perfect!
How long will it last? Who cares, (well I actually do as I’ve a garden party planned mid August) but the main thing is it is here now and we’ve already had a good run, so soak it up, enjoy it, and let’s not think about what we might not get, just what we have today….which is a 28 degree heat wave, a bowl of strawberries next to me and a pretty lovely Summer Breeze.
