Perfect Panta Rei, Paros

Island dreaming in our perfect Greek Abode

If I were to dream up the most perfect place to stay on a Greek island, a charming, traditional simple home, all set inside a white cubic idyllic setting, with a white washed balcony to sit back and watch the sun set, would come to mind. However, it still would not be half as dreamy, idyllic and as perfect as our AirBnB find in Paros. A visual dictionary would simply just have an image of this pocket of perfect, under ‘idyllic Greek haven’.

From the white and grey stone steps that led to our balcony, it just got better and better with a whole load of additional gasps from me. It was so delicious and so perfect for our four nights in Paros, I began living in my real life Greek dream, where time slowed down, life became a lot more simple and the soul became a little warmer…….Surprisingly I even enjoyed spending time in a kitchen!!

We booked the Panta Rei apartments through www.airBnb.com a three minute stroll from the port, the apartment is set in the beautiful Kastro area, the old part of Parikia in Paros.So much love and care has gone into the re-creation of the traditional apartments all set within the original stone walls, by husband and wife Yannis and Emanela. The apartment is so capturing that the local authorities have recently classified the building as protected due to architectural interest, and when you are there you can fully understand why.

The apartment is filled with traditional furniture, old writing desks and tables, black, white and sepia photographs, art work, interesting antiques and not forgetting an incredible vintage record player to add to the perfect details. White cotton sheets and drapes, all within those Cyclade colours of blue and white, but with so much warmth. The big blue shuttered windows allow the breeze and the sunshine to flow in, and the balcony leading you to the view of the sea, the most perfect sunset hang out. If that wasn’t enough the little, perfectly equipped, outside kitchen was a little favourite of mine, boiling the water for morning coffee as you stand at the stove and look out through the window to the endless blue, is a pinch yourself moment…. Still half as sleep, still dreaming who knows?

….Now it feels very much like a dream but my dream and our memories that I will return to over and over again. Oh! not to forget about our friendly cat, we named Socrates….What dream home, doesn’t have a cat?
