After surf spotting in Bingin, island hopping to the Gilis, visiting black sand beaches, Balinese offerings, traveling through volcanic mountains, and lots and lots of temples, we were coming to the end of our trip around Bali. Ubud our last stop and the most perfect end to a such an idyllic trip.
Bali is known for being the Island of the Gods, and well, I most definitely felt we touched upon a little slice of heaven in our final abode at The Purist Villas in Ubud. Completely spoilt by hotels over our time in Bali, from rustic thatched huts, to beach island homes to the amazing Puri Ganesha, and I am happy to say The Purist Villas was just as wonderful and just as special.
The Purist Villas, was certainly our oasis from the crazy, yet the delightful Ubud centre was just five minutes away (by car), it was our place of calm, our place to cool and our place to just be, for our final three days in Bali. We booked through our favourite site, i-escape.com, which never fails to please, after hours, days, perhaps weeks of deciding we opted for the Purist Villas, having been in more rustic and traditional stays, we thought it would be great to mix it up with a more modern boutique hotel, clean lines, a cool pallet of colour, calm and serene, but still with splashes of traditional Indonesian features, wood carvings and secret doorways, with the friendliest and most helpful staff.
We were lucky enough to be staying in one of the Bamboo Pool suites, complete with a huge four poster bed, pebble stone flooring, and the most luxurious and beautiful bathroom, with a free standing granite stone bath, big enough to swim in, which most definitely satisfied this bathroom obsessive, orchids galore, bath salts and peace and quiet. The garden was a complete oasis, with our very own private plunge pool, surrounded by stone walls and traditional wood carvings, a covered seated area to shelter from the hot sun, so very private with the only sound being the buds from the flower garden quietly falling into the pool..a hidden haven!
Our days were filled with long, slow and delicious breakfasts, late mornings out in Ubud centre see here, and afternoons were spent dipping in and out of our plunge pool, I know I am jealous of myself… Some days we were active enough to move to one of the two main pools, just to lie in a different place and dip in a different but just as beautiful a swimming pool, over looking the lush green jungle, under the bluest of skies and the sounds and sights and scents of nature and the oh so quiet! With massages in the cool and tranquil spa, afternoon tea brought to our villa, we were beautifully spoilt, super chilled and pretty much horizontal for three idyllic days.
Upon leaving we most definitely felt, refreshed, refuelled and reflective from our own little piece of heaven at the Purist Villas.
So dearest Bali, island of the Gods, we left you feeling very happy, we left you feeling so very tranquil and we left you feeling so very, very lucky…..
We booked The Puirst Villas through i-escape.
The hotel is about a 5 minute shuttle ride from the main centre of Ubud but we actually walked it one afternoon in about 30 mins…Just wear a hat and have lots of water on you.
The hotel arranged all shuttles and taxis to the airport, this is no problem at all.
The journey to the airport was about an hour.
