Benvenuto alla Maison La Minervetta, quite possibly the most beautiful hotel I have been lucky enough to stay at. A cliffside abode, with views out to the Sorento and Amalfi Coast from every possible part of this stunning boutique hotel, from the pool to sun terrace but what overrides this, if that is possible is the warm and friendly welcome from the staff.
As soon as you step into the lounge area, it is a feast for the eyes, nautical in theme, with teals and prints, popping out at you, from carefully chosen furnishing to coffee tables piled with a beautifully curated selection of books, with little nooks to while a way an hour or so. Even a beautifully and delicately built model of a ship sits proudly in the centre surrounded by many books, art, prints or some curio which catches your eye and need for a photo. The living area leads into the kitchen, which is a haven of colour, an eclectic collection of prints and kitchenware and the floor, well, every house owners dream.
When you think it couldn’t get much better, you walk through to the terrace, which over looks the striped sun beds and parasols, little tables and comfy chairs all arranged with the soul purpose of looking out to the paranoiac view of the coast, sitting proudly in the Cliffside, I could not think of a more spectacular spot.
This immaculate style continued into the rooms, only 13, of different sizes, but all have huge beautiful ceiling to floor windows, allowing the panoramic sight of the coast to just pour into the room. Possibly the most beautiful room with a view we have had, with blue and white striped spinning chairs, you can watch the Marina Grande go by, fellow holiday makers swimming in the sea, children playing on the beach, mopeds and old Fiats driving through the winding streets, little boats bobbing and decking over the Sorrento sea, it was like a snippet of old Italy, a moment in time, and was it was surely beautiful.
We were not long at the hotel before we took a the lift down to the small, beautiful swimming pool, overlooking the water, so imagine that little moment in time from the room but from the pool…..pretty dreamy. From there a LOT of steps down later, we reached the bay, where we made ourselves very comfortable at the Delfino beach club, with steps down into the water from the bathing platform. We swam out into the sea, I was living my very best Italian life and was happily loving every second.
…..If things couldn’t get much better, the most amazing canapés are served up around 5pm, so we left the deck and headed back up to the steps. We tucked into mouthwatering bites, ordered some drinks and settled in to read our books whilst the sun went down after another unbelievably wonderful the day….heaven, oh until cake for breakfast the next morning, double heaven!
We flew out of Luton to Naples with Easyjet.com. We booked Maison La Minervetta through Mr and Mrs Smith.
