So at the ole age of (cough) I am finally coming to terms with my addiction to the crisp, white, cotton top ……..Over the years the I have accumulated a whole collection, floaty 70-‘s style, some with bell sleeves, strapless, spaghetti strapped, Bardot style, you name it I’ve owned it, and worn it to its bare cotton threads over long hot summers. Never satisfied with the many I have, my eye always catches what I feel is the epitome of summer in the form of a top.
Let me introduce my newest love, from Monki, available through Asos, with tied shoulders and broderie anglaise detail, giving a lighter and rather pretty look. And with the top being a good old smock, we can also delve into a few more of those burgers from the BBQ, I feel this will be a firm favourite.
No doubt this will be pulled out the wardrobe on repeat through this long hot summer we will have ( hot right?). I like the ‘breezy ease’ of how just paired with some jeans, you can feel a little dressed up, a little feminine and very, very summery. Of course my number one place to show case this top would be a Greek Island, complete with tan, but for now I’m happy floating about in these glorious early summer days and summer evenings, when light and hope is at the forefront of summer…..
So maybe I won’t admit my addiction, I’ll just stay in denial, because, if I admit my problem I’ll have to stop collecting the white cotton top and what kinda of summer would that be?
