There is a photograph of me circa 1990 aged around 13 in a Gingham shirt, white jeans and what can only be described as a full on teenage strop (obviously at the time things were different) We were on a family holiday somewhere in South Devon and ever since the return of Gingham print I always shoot back to that photograph. Inevitably Gingham was not high on my list of wants for this summer, a mixture of thoughts of 80’s style dresses, Greek table cloths, me in a mood and Bette Midler in the movie Big Business, although I LOVE, love that movie, all whipped together, didn’t really do it for me…Until drum roll……Yet again the good old high street store Zara, changed my mind.
I love the design and cut of this off-the-shoulder dress, getting me into the summer vibe And the front gathering, I like a gather and find it can be pretty flattering, as well as the overlay at the front, this all pulled me in. Great for evening drinks on far away holidays, in this case Bali. But I can also imagine me wearing this complete with a rosé wine and steak-fritte on my trip to France later this summer. For the everyday layer it up with a t-shirt and then baggy jumpers and boots in the winter, although we don’t want to think of that yet.
…So what do you do when the cushions around you are also covered in Gingham, double up of course. So from one extreme to the other and this time with out the grumpy face….Well not that I would show you those photographs anyway.
Photos taken at the incredibly beautiful Puri Ganesha, Bali. More on our beautiful stay here coming very soon.
