Oh So Cleansing……

Now this will not come as a surprise to you lovely lot that read my posts, but I am a fan of a beauty product, shocker! This can range from a ridiculous love of lip balms, fancy to non fancy, face creams, sleep spray, hair oils, deep conditioners,  and that is without even delving into the possibilities of make up.  But the one product I like to try out the most and is at the top of the list of ‘can’t live without’ is a good cleanser….

I think skincare is a hot topic for most of us, we are all after that radiant, glowing and healthy looking skin, whatever our age….ahem surely? I think if I am run down, over worked, too much cold, too much sun, too much alcohol, too much food, my skin is where it shows up, literally it is written all over my face, no secrets here.  I have lots of tricks to hide the above elsewhere, but the all round, all year healthy glow is hard to fake. So of course laying off of the above or being at least moderate about it can help but I think a good cleanser is the next best thing to perk you up at the start of the day and wipe away the day whether good or bad before bed and just be a good foundation for looking after your skin.  It is a good habit and one of the few I’ve managed to stand by.  It may just be cleansing your face but as a little ritual it can be as if you are starting a fresh in the morning, a clean pallet if you will and  at night it’s all about wiping every last piece of the day away, squeaky clean before settling in for the night!

…..and so on the theme of ‘the list’ at the ‘top’ of at that list, here are the three cleansers that I am using on rotation and keep coming back to time and time again……

Liz Earle Cleanse and Polish

I’ve been a BIG fan of Liz Earle’s Cleanse and Polish for years now, my cousin Caroline, got me into it and as soon as I used it as they say I never looked back!  But it is for the simple reason that it really, really cleans your face of the grime, pollution, make-up, dirt that collects on your face as the day goes on.  I remember on first using it how amazed I was that after taking off my makeup I hadn’t really touch the surface.  Using the hot cloth really allows for a proper clean, (like a mum yelling clean behind ya ears type of clean) but also the feeling of a hot cloth on your face at the end of the day is one of life’s little pleasure if you ask me and as well as a gentle exfoliation and the removal of dead skin cells, so it’s a winner. The cleanser itself is creamy and full of all the gentle lovelies, chamomile , beeswax, rosemary, eucalyptus oil, cocoa butter.  All soothing, moisturising and like my friend said, when I sat down after use, ‘wow! it suddenly smells like a spa in here.’  I tend to use this at night, just to really get off all the make-up, dirt and sweat of the day. If I feel my skin is feeling a little under the weather or the above for mentioned happenings have taken place, I’ll use it in the morning too for a bit of a renewal……I really like that this is the expertise of a British female and all naturally sourced from home soil.  Liz Earle’s products were founded on the Isle Of Wight…it really is one of the best tonics for the skin…..

Glossier Milk Jelly Cleanser

Well of course I jumped on the Glossier band wagon, what Instagram nut didn’t?  I wasn’t really sure what I wanted to try, except everything, but after narrowing it down and hearing good things about the Glossier Milk Jelly Cleanser, this was my Glossier choice on the Christmas List.   I like anything that has a milk factor in (which is kinda weird as I don’t actually like milk!) but I think it just sounds so Cleopatra and indulgent, although this particular product is very gentle and simple but at the same time it feels rather indulgent. I tend to use a few pumps of this in the mornings, totally hydrating, sensitive ( it has Poloxamer in, which is found in most contact lens solutions, so it’s so gentle and there is no stinging the eyes.)  It is really creamy and has a nice clean feeling to it, made up of five conditioners it really makes your face feel soooo soft, and with the bonus of added rose water it smells loverly!! Also a BIG tick, Glossier products are cruelty free…..so gentle all round, plus the packing is completely ‘bathroom shelf pleasing on the eye’……Excellent!

Bioderma Sensibo Mild Cleansing Gel

I’ve used a lot of Bioderma products and haven’t been let down yet.  I like the science behind the brand and their study into healthy skin, its cells and the imbalances, I feel you can really trust them as a brand, they know their stuff.   It is also pretty affordable on an every day level.  The Sensibio Mild Cleansing Gel is up there with the best cleansers,  it does an amazing job of taking off the remainder of your make up, I also use their eye make -up remover but with this cleansing gel I don’t think you always need to it’s so good!  It is totally affordable and also last for ages, a little drop of this and it foams up really well, it has a really clean feeling, gentle but also does the job well, leaving your skin feeling soft and not too dried out, which I find some cleansers can do. It is fragrance free, soap free and also colour free, brilliant if you do struggle with sensitive skin.  I tend to use this a couple of times a week or if I really want to hydrate my skin and give a really good deep clean….and it is pink….what more do you want?
